Small town located between Cherbourg and Carentan, along the highway, Montebourg is well worth a visit, first of all for its heritage: the Saint-Jacques church, partly destroyed during the D-Day landings, but also its abbey, in which a school is located, are worth a look. On market days, but especially during the annual Candlemas fair, Montebourg comes alive and offers a different face. The east coast of the Cotentin, and in particular the small seaside town of Quinéville, is only about ten kilometers away. A few restaurants, shops and places to stay make the town an interesting starting point.
