Papa Westray is located just above Westray, accessible by ferry from the latter (25 min). Papay, as it is often called, claims to be the oldest house in Northern Europe: Knap of Howar was occupied by farmers over 5,000 years ago, before the Pyramids were even built. You'll also discover St Boniface Kirk, a recently restored 12th century church, and the Holm of Papay, one of the most impressive cairns in Orkney. Fowl Craig offers superb cliffs. North Hill is an RSPB bird sanctuary. The area also offers postcard-perfect beaches.
