Located at the southern tip of the island, Sumburgh stands at the end of the long South Mainland peninsula, which ends in high bird-filled cliffs and the wonderful prehistoric site of Jarlshof (Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement). This is also the location of the island's airport and the ferry to Fair Isles. Lovers of beautiful beaches will appreciate the long stretches of white sand found here, especially on the side of St Ninian's Isle. Don't miss the Queendale Watermill and Croft House Museum, or the Sumburgh Head lighthouse and site if you like seaside scenery and birdwatching.
