The village of Tegher can be discovered on the way down from Lake Kari to Achtarak, if you take the other road southwest to Amberd. Situated in an austere landscape, riddled with volcanic stones, a beautiful monastery of equally volcanic black stones rises among a few farms, 6 km north of the village of Dzorap. A place still very little visited, but which deserves the detour through this authentic rural Armenia, dominating the plain of Ararat, only 20 km north of Achtarak.
