Last stop on the road from Turkey to Iran, half an hour from the border, Doğubeyazit is worth a stop. The city has no particular charm except for its geographical location. It is located below Mount Ararat, whose summit sports eternal snow. Eight kilometers away stands the imposing palace of Ishak Paşa, and a Seljuk fortress, built on the ruins of an Urtean citadel, the ancient Doğubeyazit. From thedolmusstation and the center of Van, 3 minibuses leave for Doğubeyazit in the morning. In high season, it is better to buy your tickets the day before at the risk of spending the 2.5 hour ride standing.
