On the first slopes of Arakadz, an extinct volcano dominating the Ararat plain and culminating at 4,095 metres above sea level, this charming little village of 2,000 inhabitants nestled in an oasis of greenery allows for an immersion in rural Armenia, only 30 kilometres northwest of Yerevan. It is revealed shortly after starting the descent from the monastery of Tegher, by the road that crosses the village of Dzorap, in which it is necessary to stop to visit a funerary complex, the mausoleum of Aghts, a rare testimony of the first Armenian royalty.
