Guarded by a 16th century Venetian fortress (Kastel Lastva) now converted into a café, this village has so far been spared the numerous hotel constructions that disfigure the surroundings of Budva. Petrovac was founded by the Romans, as evidenced by a mosaic discovered in 1902 in the nearby town of Mirište, and is bordered by a pleasant beach with cafes, restaurants and a small port. Offshore, two small islands, Katić and Nedjelja, are each crowned with a chapel adorning its beautiful landscape. It is said that they were erected by sailors to thank the Lord for saving them from a shipwreck at sea.
