Stari Bar is a real Montenegrin Pompeii, which is worth a visit! Nestled 4 km from the port on the heights, this ghost village leaning against the Rumija Mountains stands between the Adriatic Sea and Lake Skadar. The word stari literally means "ancient". Stroll along a busy pedestrian street and climb up to the citadel walls. Discover this charming abandoned city by passing under an imposing medieval gate. At the top of the fort, you can see a river flowing down, crossed by an old stone bridge. The city was besieged several times, passing successively from Venetian to Ottoman hands
