The Bojana River marks the border with Albania. In 1858, the sinking of the Merito in the delta contributed to the formation of a sand island around the wreck. Connected to the land by a bridge, this triangular-shaped island has been home to a naturist holiday resort for some 30 years and is now only accessible to guests of the resort. To the west of the island, the Bojana River flows through a picturesque area lined with wooden huts on stilts where fishermen offer their daily catch. All restaurants, located next to each other and at the foot of the bridge to the island, have pleasant terraces with views of the river and the island.
