To discover this picturesque valley close to Locarno, you can combine several means of transport. The most emblematic and romantic is undoubtedly the train (the Centovalli train). Connecting Locarno to Domodossola in Italy in just two hours, the train passes through landscapes of great beauty: precipices, waterfalls, vineyards, viaducts, chestnut groves and numerous authentic villages where traditions are still very much alive. It's worth taking the train to Locarno, getting off in Italy at Domodossola (just past the Saint-Plon). Change for Stresa, then take the boat back to Locarno-Ascona.
