Valdallière is a new commune created on January 1, 2016, which corresponds to the perimeter of the former Community of communes of the canton of Vassy to which it has substituted. Located at 60 km southwest of Calvados, in the Vikings, between Vire and Condé-sur-Noireau, it owes its name to the rolling character of its territory and to the Allière, one of the rivers passing through it. Since January 1, 2017, Valdallière has been a member of the Intercom commune community of la Vire in Noireau and consists of 14 municipalities: Bernières-le-Patry, Burcy, Chenedollé, Estry, La Rocque, Le Desert, Le Theil-Bocage, Montchamp, Stones, Presles, Rully, Saint-Charles-de-Percy, Vassy, Viessoix. Vassy-Valdallière, the city center, now concentrates the main economic activities and services while the former small municipalities, around the world, welcome or host school, sports, cultural and commercial infrastructures. Despite its administrative reorganization, Valdallière remains, for the time being, a land of farmland and culture, offering the visitor a variety of landscapes combining hills, prairies and villages with a few wooded areas. But we admit it, there's something to lose north and Latin.
