The 16th-century château, the Halles, Square Delaunay, Place Paulette-Duhalde, Saint-Germain church and Jean Chaudeurge's rose window, Château Duhazé and its neo-Gothic style, rich 19th-century homes and beautiful wrought-iron balconies: Flers is a town full of little treasures. They're not made of gold, to the despair of the alchemists who came to the city in the 17th century in the hope of transforming the region's abundant iron ore. Although mining came to an end in the 1970s, Flers has remained a very green and commercial town. The capital of the western Orne region is well served by road and rail.
