On the west bank of the Lögurinn, the waterfall falls from 120 m height in a deep canyon, it is among the highest in the country! Accessible after a good hour's walk from the car park (beware of the steep slope), Hengifoss stands out for its alternating reddish strata, red clay, and black layers of basalt resulting from previous eruptions. On your way, take a break to admire Litlanesfoss and its basaltic organs. Fagradalsfoss waterfall is another destination. Hikers, who slip behind the liquid curtain, instantly enjoy the coolness of the place.
