Santa Maria Ligure is part of the Portofino Regional Nature Park, and lies in the innermost part of the Tigullio Gulf. Nicknamed Santé by the Italians, it is one of the busiest and liveliest seaside resorts on the coast. The heart of Santa Maria Ligure is its elegant seafront promenade, shaded by holm oaks and palm trees, which leads from Piazza Vittorio Veneto to the harbour, where a succession of yachts anchored in the tourist harbour, hotels and vacation properties line up. Behind you'll find the village, worth a visit, with its delightfully colorful houses decorated with trompe-l'oeil frescoes.
