Surrounded by hills, the small village of Moneglia faces the sea, in the heart of a charming gulf between Cape Moneglia and Punta Rospo. It's a great base for visiting the Cinque Terre, but not only that! Moneglia is well worth a visit, as evidenced by the origin of the toponym: Moneglia comes from monilia, Latin for "jewel". Beach lovers will appreciate the fine sand. As for the vegetation, umbrella pines and Mediterranean scrub blend into the landscape. Finally, on the cultural front, you can visit the house of one of the leading exponents of Ligurian painting, Luca Cambiaso, and one of his works(Ultima cena) in the Santa Croce church.
