The capital of the province of the same name, Gianyar is one of the most densely populated on the island, and is a noisy little town organized around its market, held every three days. Its tourist appeal is rather non-existent, with the exception of its bus station, where a number of bémos interconnect. The Gianyar coast, now served by a tarmac road, nevertheless boasts a few black-sand beaches inhabited by fishing communities, and not at all developed for tourism. On the road from Kutri to Gianyar, spinning and weaving stalls and workshops encourage you to consider this new activity.
