The magnificent national park covers over 90,000 ha of protected areas, including the park itself (19,000 ha), 50,000 ha of protected inland areas and 10,000 ha of coral reefs. This policy of environmental protection is to be applauded after the damage caused by uncontrolled tourism. The park's varied geography ranges from the Menjangan islets on the arid, mangrove-filled north coast to the forested hills of the southwestern slope. Hiking and scuba diving are available around Menjangan.
