Just outside the town of Ubud, visitors are captivated by the gradual transformation of the landscape, which becomes increasingly picturesque and wild. Deep valleys emerge, crossed by rivers that nourish lush, varied vegetation. Among this greenery, ferns appear and, most strikingly, countless rice terraces. The latter seem to be suspended from the sides of the gorges, as if held back by a divine force, offering a visual spectacle both delicate and majestic.Tegallalang is a veritable crossroads for craft enthusiasts, specializing in the carving of small decorative objects, such as fruit and flowers in wood. The village's handicraft market is a must for those looking to bring back unique souvenirs, such as bamboo wind chimes or photo albums made from palm leaves.Exploring the surrounding area also offers some wonderful discoveries. On the narrow road leading to Pujung, a visit to the village of Manuaba is a must, where you'll find the Pura Griya Sakti, a sumptuous temple dedicated to the Brahmins of Manuaba, who gave their name to the village. This sacred site, with its perfectly balanced wantilan (meeting pavilion), exudes serenity. Further on, towards Telaga Waja, travellers will be enchanted by the discovery of a complex of ritual pools, testifying to the cultural and spiritual richness of the region.
