Singapadu is not on the main road from Batuan to Ubud town; this small village is next to Batuan, behind the rice fields. Surrounded by greenery, Singapadu is still a charming traditional village. The fame of Singapadu has always been due to its mask carving (I Made Regug) and its legong and barong dancers. Another tradition is the gong making. In the two banjars, Seseh and Apuan, there is an old type of gamelan called the Saron gong, whose notes have a special sound, which betrays sadness and grief and which is used during cremations. A visit to this village is another great opportunity to discover both Balinese craftsmanship and know-how
