This district of Rimouski was one of the most important navigational aid centres in the country. A pilot station was operational for a century, from 1859 to 1959, as well as a quarantine office and a Marconi telegraph. Four lighthouses were built in succession and the last one, thesecond highest in the country, is now a national historic site. The maritime historic site, its exhibition on the sinking of the Empress of Ireland and its submarine Onondaga, which participated in NATO missions, are major attractions. To conclude the day, we will enjoy fresh seafood at the Lighthouse Restaurant.
