An agricultural village, it is the gateway to the Gaspé Peninsula. In fact, just a few hundred kilometres upstream from the Gaspé Peninsula, billboards advertising the famous Capitaine Homard de Sainte-Flavie are everywhere. In addition to this well-known fish and seafood restaurant, Sainte-Flavie is also known for its Grand Rassemblement, a work of art comprising more than 80 life-size sculptures on the shore and in the sea, behind the Marcel Gagnon Art Centre. This is where Route 132 splits in two: either follow the coastline to go around the peninsula from the north, or go down to the Matapedia Valley.
