Once a favorite destination of Montreal's English bourgeoisie, Métis-sur-Mer (population less than 600) was founded by Scots in the 19th century. It was called Petit-Métis until 1921, when it took on its current name, which was also that of its seigneury at the time. It is a member in good standing of the Association des plus beaux villages du Québec and has been awarded three Fleurons by the Fleurons du Québec association for its sustainable horticultural beautification. The village is really cute and invites you to stroll through its narrow streets. For a close-up view of the sea, follow the steps down to the sand and pebble beach.
