Between Caen and Pont-l'Évêque, a few minutes from the beaches of Cabourg and Houlgate, this small village perched on top of a hill promises a 100% natural getaway. Douville-en-Auge is home to a pretty church, whose Romanesque nave dates back to the 12th century, and, not far away, an 18th-century castle, now privately owned. But what attracts here, in the heart of the Pays d'Auge, lovers of local products, is the Ferme du Lieu-Roussel. An atypical place, open to the public, where Eric Maertens welcomes you with a cheerful eye, presents his livestock, and sometimes takes the opportunity to talk about the daily life of a farmer. You can get a closer look at the farm's animals (cows, pigs, geese and donkeys roam freely) and its organic cider products by making a detour through the shop. Here, more than anywhere else, passion is in the meadow.
