Ah, Cabourg, its beach, its casino, its Grand Hôtel and its distinctive fan-shaped layout! The pearl of the Côte Fleurie boasts a rich heritage. It was in 1861, with the construction of the first seaside hotel, the famous Grand Hôtel, and then in 1892, with the acquisition by Charles Bertrand (mayor for 31 years!) of the Grands Établissements, that the "Queen of the Beaches", as it was known during the Belle Époque, earned its letters of nobility. Cabourg was slow to recover from the Second World War. In 1971, Bruno Coquatrix, director of the Olympia and mayor, restructured the resort, which gradually took on the charm it still has today.
