Located in a narrow strip between the Villa de Mazo and Breña Alta, Breña Baja was a single municipality with the latter until 1634. Its economy is essentially agricultural and is based on traditional crops such as bananas, avocados and potatoes. On the tree side, there are many palm trees and beautiful examples of dragon trees. One of its most important fiestas is Santa Ana, which on 25 July is the site of a renowned crafts fair. The nearby La Breña mountain is a good viewpoint over the La Breña valley and part of the village of Mazo.
