Chora culminates at an altitude of some 300 metres, a strategic position that has made it the historic capital of the island, ideal for protection from pirate and Ottoman invasions. Chora, despite its position perched on the mountainside, attracts tourists only with the sincere charm of the past, which can be found by taking a stroll through its abandoned alleys. Its houses are in poor condition, their dry stones are crumbling: one feels the passage of time and one likes to know the authenticity that inhabits the place. At the very top, you will find a superb view of the sea below. The village can be the starting point for some pleasant walks in this direction.
