Jarabacoa is 50 km from Santiago. The region is known as an eco-adventurer's paradise, with rafting, mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding and other activities for the more experienced sportsman. Thanks to its favorable climate, it's also a vacation spot for wealthy Dominicans, who claim that spring is eternal here. During the dictatorship, the region was very fashionable, and wealthy families built sumptuous homes here. It was the destination of chic honeymoons. A few buildings remain from the 1940s, including the ruins of the outdated Hotel Montana. Today, Jarabacoa is the center of Dominican ecotourism and a dynamic and engaging mountain town. In addition to its mild climate and lifestyle, the region offers a wide range of original activities (rafting, canyoning, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking...). An ideal place to recharge your batteries if you've had enough of dreamy beaches. Nature is particularly beautiful and generous in this gently rolling region. In the heart of the mountains flow swollen, sometimes tumultuous rivers, dizzying waterfalls create cool, inviting natural pools, and lakes shimmer peacefully in the heart of fir forests. As the road climbs higher, the landscape changes and becomes more rugged. The fir trees soon replace the tropical vegetation and the air becomes lighter.
