Rising between 570 and 1,331 meters above sea level, Lescheraines is home to almost 800 inhabitants and lies at the crossroads of the valleys and passes of the Cœur des Bauges. This privileged location has made the village a lively commercial center. The leisure park, with its many lakes, is the ideal place to relax and picnic. In the village center, discover the notary's house opposite the church, as well as the tombstone of Abbé Laurent Morand (leaning against the church wall), a 19th-century writer whose works are the main historical source on the Bauges. Visit the Maison des Artisans and buy local produce at the fruitière (cheese dairy), where guided tours are organized for groups by prior arrangement. The leisure center offers a supervised swimming area in summer, a fishing lake, pedal boats, a water playground, a slide, tennis courts, a multi-sports field, children's play areas, picnic areas and walks. A path adapted for people with reduced mobility runs around the leisure center's lake. For an easy stroll, follow the water trail, which you can extend as far as the Pissieu waterfall (2-hour round trip). Every Tuesday morning, there's a market on the Place des Cantalous. And don't miss the annual fairs on the fourth Sunday in September and the last Saturday in October, where you can pick up some bargains.
