The commune is located on the southern shore of Lake Aiguebelette and joins the village of Aiguebelette. It is on the way of the great praetorian road from Milan to Vienna. This road remained the main road from France to Italy until 1670, when the opening of the new road from the Grotto to Saint-Christophe dethroned it. Many hamlets are scattered in this generous nature, dominated by the Col de l'Epine. At the place called Curtelet, a beautiful leisure centre with a beach has been set up. The Romanesque church, entirely restored in 1890 and attached to a stone bell-tower with numerous trompe-l'oeil paintings, is worthy of note. The castle of Chambost, built in 1760, cannot be visited, yet one can observe its superb stained glass window which represents the arms of Savoy. It still belongs to the de Chambost family. A train station allows easy access to Lépin-le-Lac.
