Here we are in the northern (western) part of the Belledonne mountain range. Allevard-les-Bains is a village whose waters have been known since the Middle Ages, and which, in the early 19th century, became a veritable spa for the treatment of rheumatism and respiratory ailments. Among its famous clients was Alphonse Daudet, who wrote extensively about Allevard. Le Collet d'Allevard is a family-friendly ski resort, popular with Chambériens and many Grenoble residents. Collet d'Allevard offers one of Europe's largest night skiing areas (covering the Malatrait and Fontaineterre sectors).
