In the middle of the 13th century, in the middle of the night, a large part of Mount Granier suddenly collapsed from a height of 1,930 meters, completely burying five parishes and causing over a thousand casualties. This unfortunate accident brought about major changes for grape growers, as the landslide made the area much more suitable for vine cultivation. It's worth noting that Apremont's vineyards also cover the Marches and Saint-Baldoph, enabling it to produce AOC wine thanks to its exceptional geology.
