The village extends from the Brévenne valley to the west at the Col Pass. Located 698 m at the Crêt De, a hole dug in the rock (solution stone), known as the écuelle stone, appears to be one of the vestiges of a Bohemian village in the Canton Canton. The village is winding around its church Saint-Georges rebuilt in the th century, surmounted by a octagonal bell. Inside, a Gothic-style keystone of Gothic style dates back to the th century. Chevinay is dispersed in many hamlets. In the hamlet of Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid is erected a castle, high place of the first ages of Christianity. In 722, the body of Saint-Bonnet was moved to this castle which then became the summer residence of the monks of Savigny.
