Situated on the Dombes plateau, this village undoubtedly owes its fame to its "holy priest", Jean-Marie Vianney. Many pilgrimages take place at the sanctuary of Ars and even Pope John Paul II visited the place. The majestic basilica of Ars, built in 1862 by the architect Pierre Bossan - also known for having built the basilica of Fourvière -, houses the intact body of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney, the patron saint of all parish priests. Also worth seeing and visiting are the presbytery and the chapel. The wax museum, entirely renovated in 2019, allows you to retrace the life and pay tribute to the memory of the Curé of Ars
