Mieussy is located at the intersection of the D308, a divine road for motorcyclists coming from the Col de la Ramaz (alt. 1,619 m) and Praz de Lys, and the D07 which follows the valley more wisely. It was in Mieussy in 1978 that the first major European flights in "slope parachute", now paragliding, took place. In the foothills of the nearby mountain, the Jourdy cave was used as a refuge during the Terror (1792-1796). In 1881, the sanctuary of the Sainte-Famille was erected there to protect the villagers from the then frequent landslides. Every year, in October, the Foire aux bestiaux, à la châtaigne et aux pommes is held in Mieussy.
