Known as the capital of the Haut Chablais Blanc region, Morzine (at an altitude of 1,060 meters) nestles at the bottom of the Aulps valley. In 1934, the Pléney cable car was inaugurated, offering rides and exceptional panoramic views of the Alps. Morzine gradually equipped the Pléney, Nyon and Chamossière mountains, creating a high-altitude ski area. The addition of Avoriaz in 1960 gave the region a new dimension, attracting skiers in search of altitude and modernity, while Morzine appeals to lovers of village authenticity. Morzine-Avoriaz is connected to the Portes du Soleil, a vast Franco-Swiss ski area comprising 12 resorts.
