Offendorf is a small town with a long tradition of boatmaking; a museum-peniche shows the daily life of boatmen. Established on the banks of the Rhine since the 9th century, Offendorf boasts four marinas and a marina. The marina has a capacity of 600 moorings and a restaurant. Nearby is the Rossmoerder Island nature reserve, 60 hectares of alluvial forest home to several species of newts, frogs and many other animals. It is criss-crossed by footpaths, providing an opportunity to observe unspoilt nature. Last but not least, the 75-hectare Beilenkopf fishing pond is a great place for keen fishermen.
