At an altitude of 650 m, clinging to the south-eastern flank of the Ventoux, Monieux opens wide the gates of the Nesque gorges, where wild boars can sometimes be seen. Dominated by the remains of a medieval watchtower and the Saint-André chapel, which can still be reached by a footpath, this medieval village is certainly the oldest in the Pays de Sault. Bathed in lavender and cereals, it remains a privileged place for all lovers of preserved nature. Picturesque streets and calades lined with houses dating from the 12th, 17th and 18th centuries, let you guess its history. The history of Monieux is linked to that of the Nesque gorges.
