Le Thoronet, a place whose name is of Celto-Ligurian origin, is a place dedicated to the god Thor. It was developed as early as the Gallo-Roman period. Nestling in the heart of the Var department, benefiting from a totally preserved nature, the village of Le Thoronet, typically Provencal, is surrounded by hills where holm oak, pine, olive trees and vines reign supreme. With its superb 12th century Cistercian abbey and its surroundings, it is an ideal holiday resort for those who are passionate about history, heritage and hiking. Its market is held every Tuesday morning on the Rainaud car park.
