The story goes that Rouillac has Gallo-Roman origins. A certain Rullus is said to have had a villa built on the side of the Agrippa road. The famous monthly fair of the 27th is said to have originated in an ancient trade fair. The commune has had the church of Saint-Pierre restored in order to enhance the value of this heritage listed as a Historic Monument. It has a beautiful apse and an octagonal bell tower. Marked out circuits make it possible to discover votive fountains consecrated since Antiquity (Font Franchaud, Font de Bonneuil, Font Pélerine). Rouillac is home to 2 Natura 2000 zones. In the east, from mid-March to the end of August, more than 30 protected species of orchids bloom on the hillsides.Another visit not to be missed: the Gallo-Roman theatre of Les Bouchauds in Saint-Cybardeaux.
