From Iholdy, you have crossed the wild Ipharlatze pass and Ostabat appears to you in the hollow of the valley: it has remained a small village by the number of its inhabitants (325) but it is large by its past and its history. Ostabat, in the heart of the Basque Country, 20 minutes from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and 30 minutes from the Spanish border, was a confluence of the routes to Santiago de Compostela in the Middle Ages.
