This municipality, whose Basque name is linked to uhart meaning "between waters", is located at the crossroads of the three routes to Santiago de Compostela, the via Turonensis, the via Lemovicensis and the via Podiensis, a crossroads indicated by the stele of Gibraltar/Xibaltarre, i.e. Saint-Sauveur. It can be recognised by the discoidal shape of its upper part, which was common in Basque cemeteries at the time. You can take a look at the castle built in the 16th century around an older tower and modified several times between the 17th and 19th centuries, or go up to the Chapel of Soyarce, from where you can enjoy a superb view of the Basque Pyrenees.
