The name "city of boatmen" is not usurped for this small town, which had the good idea to use this identity to find a new lease of life and attract visitors. Although river activity is no longer as important as before, the small red brick houses along the canal, the lock and the barges are still an integral part of the setting. The event of the year remains the Pardon de la Batellerie festival, organised on the first weekend of July. With the future Seine-Nord canal, which will bring the barges a few kilometres away, the municipality will see a significant reduction in river traffic. But the identity will be preserved, thanks in particular to the interesting museum of barges and the electric boat Escapade.
