A dozen kilometers from Mamers towards Villeneuve, this village around its beautiful church Saint Mary seems a little asleep. This municipality of Sarthe, which covers part of the Perseigne forest and enjoys a very beautiful environment, has barely a hundred inhabitants but does not miss a certain reputation for being the rural and equestrian fief of Michel Serrault. The actor stayed there for 22 years (1974-1996) at the castle of Tournerie (sixteenth century), the same one where Henri IV stayed. Michel Serrault restored the castle, dug a pond, planted hundreds of trees, mainly peaks and pee trees, greatly valuing a major element of local heritage. This lover of the products of the farm liked to ride horse, practice the coupling, play the hunting body in the courtyard of the castle, hike in the forest, not forgetting to go to the market in Mamers. Michel Serrault, whose wife did not share his enthusiasm for the region, returned his castle to director Jean-Jacques Beinex. This private castle does not visit. Also, the Gastine Manor Castle is not open to the public. Built in the sixteenth century, 3 km from the village, between the castles of Beauvoir and Les Aulneaux, this old fortified residence with a remarkable tree park, watered with water and canals, is not a romantic charm. The estate houses the chapel Notre-Dame-de-Pcondoli (xixe century) which has its own tower. The village is animated during the communal party of August 15 with a statter, walking and cycling race.Picnic areas near the church and the town hall square.Climbers know the commune for its natural climbing site in Perseigne Forest, called Carrière de Louzes, a cliff exposed to the east where they have 18 channels (estimated between 5 C and 6 C) from 15 to 22 m high.
