This quiet and unspoilt village of about 2,000 inhabitants (the Bilurians), a street town and rural community with a living agriculture, is located 10 km south-east of Connerré and is home to some beautiful buildings. Its church of Saint-Georges-et-Saint-Mathieu, dating from the 12th-17th centuries, stands out for having a confessional which was dedicated to lepers. The surrounding hamlets and villages are also home to remarkable buildings, including the church of Saint-Michel de Chavaignes.
