This is a strange name for this commune which, contrary to what it suggests, is situated at the opposite end of the road from Nantes! Almost bordering the Indre-et-Loire, Vernantes is known for its immense and luxurious castle, rebuilt on the remains of the feudal castle. This quiet town, almost motionless in the shadow of its 18th century houses, is very pleasant for an unpretentious stroll.
