If, between the Pointe Saint-Gildas and Saint-Brévin, you get a good smell of biscuit, you are on the right road! No doubt, you are in Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, capital of the Saint-Michel cake and other delicacies. The town was once called Saint-Michel-du-Chévecier and depended on the duchy of Retz. Then the name was gradually distorted to become Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, eminently known and recognized for its famous cakes exported throughout the world. The story goes back to 1905, when Joseph Grellier, a master pastry chef, decided to apply a family secret to the production of his galettes, which he named Galettes Saint-Michel.
