Located on the left bank of the Isac valley, it is said that the bishop of Nantes, Saint Clair, used to stop there. The river Isac was canalized to build the canal from Nantes to Brest which runs alongside the town. The barges transported fertilizer, lime and sand. The canal was during the Second World War, the northern limit of the pocket of Saint-Nazaire and a natural border between the free zone and the occupied zone. The church of Saint-Hermeland was bombed and Guenrouët destroyed. Today, the site has a tourist vocation amply justified by the charm of the valley of the Isac, the sweetness of its surrounding countryside and the canal from Nantes to Brest and its pleasure boats.
