Bouaye is located only 20 minutes from Nantes and the beaches of the Atlantic coast and offers more than 60 daily bus and train connections to the city of Brittany. Over the centuries, the rural area takes shape with its fields, its meadows, its vineyards earned on the great forest of Touffou, which belts the lake of Grand-Place. From the fifteenth century, vine growing is highly developed. We press the grapes at the castle of Senaigerie. Under the old regime, a parish general, ancestor of the city council manages routine affairs, while large seigneuries adjacent to the lake (Benaste, Huguetières, Touffou, Loyaux) share communal territory. As early as 1580, the Rector of the Parish maintained civil-state registers. Located on the tourist route of the vineyard, Bouaye bordered the lake Grand-Lieu. You only need to see the house of the nature reserve to convince yourself of the exceptional richness of the site. Many hiking routes are available to discover landscapes and local architecture. These routes cross the commune and reveal the heritage elements of Bouaye. Trails are now included in the Departmental Plan for Walking and Hiking Routes (PDIPR) and listed in four practical fiches. The proximity of Nantes and the airport, the authentic nature of its environment, the reputation of its wines and the heritage riches of this municipality ample justification for the detour, as well as its cultural and economic dynamism.
