Situated at the gateway to the Haut Languedoc Regional Nature Park, on the border with the Hérault department, the commune of Labastide-Rouairoux lies on one of the banks of the Thoré river. It would seem that it was created as a bastide by Raymond V, Count of Toulouse, around 1166. It was not until the industrial revolution in the 19th century that the city was propelled to the forefront of the scene through its textile activity. Within the town, a museum recounts this adventure and pays tribute to the men and women who built its history. Note that Labastide-Rouairoux is an important stage of the "Art and Textile" trail.
