Situated on the Souillac-Cahors axis, Payrac is a stopover town that can be partially crossed with the old N20. This was already the case during the Renaissance, when the village served as a postal center and relay station. It was also an important and renowned trading place for livestock and grain. The Romanesque church has the particularity of having magnificent stained glass windows made by master glass artists from the Lot in the 20th century. From the medieval past remains the round tower of the castle dating from the XIIIth century, former lair of the lordship of Gourdon. In the surroundings, the beautiful 15th century square tower with watchtower in the hamlet of Camy is worth a visit.
